Directions to Ford Mountain Hiking Trail, Chilliwack BC
At Vedder Crossing in Chilliwack, turn left onto Chilliwack Lake road. Drive about 28.5 km on the main road and then slow to spot the Ford Mountain Forest Service Road (sign indicated) on the north side. Four wheel drive recommended to gain proximal access to the trail head. (in 2009 stay on main road until locked yellow gate. Sometimes possible to go higher by 4x4 on old spur road (north) just prior to gate.) Park where appropriate considering conditions. Continue up old spur road for about 700m to gain access to the trail head proper in small clearing area.
Trail is marked by orange markers and tape (but not as well as some hikes in the area, so be aware of your trail.) At first the trail winds steeply up for 30 - 40 minutes before leveling out somewhat and allowing some views to the south. Continue on to the top where an old forest service lookout stood till the mid 1970's. From here you can take your pick of views....there's lots of them!
