1. Hiking Club Growing in Leaps and Bounds

Did you know that you're one of about 120 people who now receive this email newsletter? The Chilliwack Hiking Club is growing fast since it's official launch in October 2006. Thanks for your involvement and volunteer efforts to make this club great! We've recently scheduled some more hikes too so check em out on the website.

2. This Saturday's Hike

  • Our first hike of the season is this Saturday, February 24th, and you're invited! We may see some snow on the trail, so bring good foot wear and warm clothing...
  • Looks like we'll have a nice size group out for this hike. A number of people have let us know they'll be meeting us at the Tim Hortons at Watcom Road near Abbotsford on the morning of the hike. If this is you and you're not meeting with the main group at the Sardis Starbucks at 8am, then be at the Watcom Road Tim Hortons at no later than 8:40am. We'll swing by and pick you up at that time. Wear your backpack or toque or carry your hiking stick or water bottle or rub mud on your forehead or something so you look outdoorsy so we can find you quickly in the crowd at Tim Hortons. It will be best if all cars go together to the trailhead so noone gets lost. On the morning of the hike (between 8:15AM and 8:40AM) you can call 604-845-7847 to let your hike leader (Brent) know that you're waiting at the Watcom Road Tim Hortons so that noone is left behind. If you can carpool please do.

3. So Are You Going To Hike More Than Once This Year?

  • Love to hike and want to take part in at least 2 hiking club hikes anytime in 2007? We're looking for local hikers who want to get more involved with the hiking club by helping lead a few hikes this year. No super-athletes or shaggy beards or public speech giving required, just a willingness to share you love for the outdoors with friends. We're looking for two more hike co-leaders (both men and women) to help lead hikes. Yep, we're talking to you. Learn more how you can help out...>

4. Upcoming Hikes

5. New to the Hiking Club? Read This.

  • Always check the HikeChilliwack.com website on the morning of the day of the hike that you're planning to take part in to get any last minute changes or updates.
  • Always prepare for the worst on every hike -- bring lots of water and food and warm clothing. Expect to see snow and/or rain anytime on any hike.
  • Don't wear runners. Get some good hiking shoes or boots, you'll thank yourself for it.
  • Read the FAQ's on the website
  • You have to be a member to join any hike. Bring your signed waiver to your first hike. (Required)
  • Invite a friend :)

Talk to you later,
Brent and Reuben, hike leaders
