Manning Park Overnighter

Description

This will be an overnight backpacking trip for those with little or no overnight backpacking experience. You should be prepared to carry all of your own gear, and come equipped with all of the usual daytrip gear, plus sleeping bag, food, shelter, etc. The trail itself is a gem of Manning Park, and makes a great introduction to overnight backpacking. We will be driving in to Manning Park, and up to a parking area at the base of Blackwall peak, at an elevation of 1980 m (6500 ft.), thus reducing the arduous climbing significantly! From here we'll head into the Four Brothers Mountain area via the Heather Trail, contouring along Lone Man Ridge, and on to Bonnevier Ridge. Our options are many, as we will likely arrive at Buckhorn Camp in short order, and need to decide whether to pitch our tents, and do short day trips from here, or travel on an additional 9 km, to arrive at Kickinghorse Camp for night. We may opt to leave a vehicle at the Cambie Creek ski trail parking lot, so that we can do a loop which would give us the option of not returning via the same trail we came in on. Daytrip options from either Buckhorn Camp or Kickinghorse Camp are the Big Buck mountain, the Four Brothers Mountains, or Nicomen Lake.
