Calendar of upcoming hikes & events for the Southside Hiking Club. See hikes we've done in the past.

April 2007

• April 7 (Saturday) Diez Vistas (Buntzen Lake, Port Moody, BC)
  • Chilliwack Meeting Place: We will be meeting at 8:00 AM in the Sardis Starbucks parking lot. Don’t be late. Once there we can arrange carpooling. If you're not driving to the trail yourself, every passenger needs to pay their carpool driver $4 each for gas before we leave in the morning. We'll need a few drivers so come prepared to drive (ie print out the directions) if you've got wheels. If you're new, make sure you've completed the membership paperwork before arriving.
  • Abbotsford Meeting Place: If you're from Abbotsford, you can meet with fellow hikers at the Whatcom Road Tim Hortons. Wear a hat so other hikers can find you. There will not be a hike leader at this Abbotsford meeteing location, but go here first if you'd like to carpool. Meet at 8:20am and leave at 8:30am.   • Trailhead Meeting Time: We'll start hiking from the parking lot at Buntzen lake at 10am
  • April 2 Trip Update: Buntzen lake's trail from the parking lot to the floating bridge has been repaired, so we're back on track to do the classic there-and-back Diez vista's hike from the Buntzen lake parking lot to the first or second viewpoint and back again. Forget the stuff we were mentioning earlier about possibly starting the hike from Sasamat lake. We'll have to save that Sasamat lake hike for another day. :)

• April 15 (Sunday): Chilliwack Lake Eco Reserve
  • Meeting Place: We will be meeting at noon in the Sardis Starbucks parking lot. Don’t be late. If you're new, make sure you've completed the membership paperwork before arriving.

• April 22 (Sunday): Save Elk Mountain Rally
  • Attend the Elk Mountain Trail Rally!
    Meet 9:00 AM at the trailhead.

This event is put on by members of the Chilliwack Outdoors Club and ClubTread. We encourage all Chilliwack Hiking Club members to attend this event and make their voices heard about saving this classic Chilliwack hiking trail.

• April 28 (Saturday): Chadsey Lake, Sumas Mountain (North)
  • Chilliwack Meeting Place: We will be meeting at 8:00 AM in the Sardis Starbucks parking lot. Don’t be late. Once there we can arrange carpooling. If you're not driving to the trail yourself, every passenger needs to pay their carpool driver $6 each for gas before we leave in the morning. We'll need a few drivers so come prepared to drive (ie print out the directions) if you've got wheels. If you're new, make sure you've completed the membership paperwork before arriving.
  • Abbotsford Meeting Place: If you're from Abbotsford, you can meet with fellow hikers at the Whatcom Road Tim Hortons. Wear a hat or rub dirt on your face so other hikers can find you. The Chilliwack group will stop quickly at this location to meet the Abby people and do any additional required carpooling. Meet at this location at 8:30am and we'll leave at 8:45am.
