Daryl Currie

I was born July 1st, on a sun shinny day. The birds were chirping and the air was fresh, not a cloud on the horizon….As a kid, I spent much of my childhood sitting in the comfy crooks of trees, filled with imagination, tucked away and content in nature’s pocket. When i wasn’t fighting hordes of highly trained, intergalactic, space ninjas I was usually following the erratic path of black ants back to their nest or being Mantracker (without their knowledge) to my mom, dad or an unsuspecting field mouse. Sometimes I would even travel back in time, fighting the fiercest Saber Tooth Tiger in the marshes, a sharpened stick my only defense. The battles where fierce, but the victories were Glorious! The only interruption being my mom calling me in for dinner (don’t judge!…a kids gotta eat)! As the years passed by, I grew up a bit. I intended to become a Marine Biologist, but discovered i suck at Algebra, Physics, Chemistry--pretty much All the sciences there is and during this process learned that there is a little more to marine biology than simply flying down to California to swim with a sick dolphin. After years of therapy, and a series of broken crayons, I picked up my first DSLR. Nowadays creativity, wellness and storytelling consumes most of my time. If I’m not actively creating, I’m thinking about creating, or thinking about, thinking about creating. In other words…it’s my life! I try to live with that same child-like carefreeness I had as a kid—a complete reckless, abandonment to the moment, filled with a wide-eyed wonder of our world. Besides being a long time resident of the Wack, I am a local photographer [NOTE SHAMELESS PLUG HERE ----> www.darycurriephoto.com for weddings & portraits and www.darylcurrie.ca for all things commercial] and a lover of nature and all things wild and free! One of the many things on my bucket list is to complete ALL of the 103 Hikes in the book '103 Hikes In Southwestern British Columbia'. I've done 26 of them (many repeats) and always look forward to meeting fellow trekkers of the terrain. If you’re heading out on the trails…don’t hesitate—totally open to meeting new people! Cheers!
